Support Department High School

The Learning Support Department is dedicated to assisting students who need help in one or more subjects but do not fall under the category of special educational needs. The department supports, for example, students from non-Italian-speaking families or those who are behind in their English, by assessing their specific needs and creating targeted learning programmes. Through one-on-one lessons or small group sessions, the focus is on strengthening language skills, whether that may be in Italian or English, with the goal of filling in gaps in learning and bringing students up to class level.

The department also provides personalised support to students with varying levels of proficiency in mathematics. Through individual assessments, teachers identify specific areas of difficulty and design targeted study plans to address them. Tutoring sessions – either individual or in groups – focus on clarifying concepts, applying them in practice, and building a solid mathematical foundation. This approach encourages active student participation, builds confidence, and promotes a positive mindset toward academic challenges. Through regular monitoring and ongoing communication with parents and teachers, the Learning Support Department aims to ensure steady progress by overcoming difficulties in specific subjects and fostering each student’s overall academic growth.
