John is the English coordinator, with twenty-four years’ teaching experience. He has an honours degree, and a PGCE in English from the University of Portsmouth. He taught English language and literacy in English state secondary schools for thirteen years, during which time he was head of the English department, examinations officer, and mentor to undergraduate trainee teachers affiliated with the University of Chichester.
He moved to Italy in 2011, where he taught English at an international school in Grottaferrata for three years, before working at Acorn House International Middle School from 2014 – 2022. There he collaborated with his Italian counterpart to establish its bilingual dual curriculum.
Prior to moving to Italy, he acquired a CELTA certificate, and has since taught Cambridge English at all levels from A2 to C2. He continues to mentor trainee teachers in Italy, including Erasmus and TES institute trainees. His favourite writers are Dickens, Shakespeare and the students in his English classes.
